The Light Can't Not Shine

The light shines no matter what - so why does so much of what is around us seem to be dark? There is darkness between people, darkness in hearts and minds, darkness in the world-at-large - if you let it, it can seem as if the light isn't doing its job. However, we have many assurances that it is...so what's the issue? The problem isn't the light. The problem is what is blocking the light, and while you'll explore that further, later, for today, let's focus on the light that won't ever, ever give up.

Be the Lens Not the Shutter

The light continually shines, but sometimes it isn't getting through. How can we be sure we are an opening for the light rather than an obstruction? In many ways, it's not our control that matters, but our willingness to surrender control and gain a confidence that comes not from ourselves but from the light.

It's as Easy as Opening Your Eyes

The lights is shining, and it makes it possible for us to see that which is before us. But if we open our eyes and take advantage of the light - what is it for? Why do we engage in attempts to see by the light? If we are going to open our eyes, and use them well, we'll use them so that we can see what we're meant to see - and if things are in the way of that, we'll find ways to remove them.

You've Never Had an English Muffin Before

This seeing and shining that the light does is great - but it is that much better when it happens in connection with the story, power, and reality of Jesus. When we see the light by the one who called himself the Light, it takes on a deeper, beautiful meaning and makes everything a little brighter.
