In a Certain Light

Reconciliation

This is a series that is meant to equip people to bridge the gaps that separate us from one another, be they sin, guilt, culture, understanding, education...you name it. We need to "reconcile" these differences, and there are good ways to go about this.

Harmed/Healed

The journey of reconciliation will always include change, including, very often, a change in perception. Let's consider how reconciliation turns the unavoidable reality of harm into a cycle of repairing, so that the many instances of harm around us - whether we observe it, receive it, or perpetrate it - can be viewed as opportunities for the healing power of reconciliation to create something better.

Unknown/Understood

The journey of reconciliation will always include change, including, very often, a change in perception. That perception change is especially noticeable when what we need to reconcile is simply differences (as opposed to wrongs.) The work that takes people from distant to together - unknown to understood - is daily, important work for humans that is very much informed by God's work toward humanity.

Apart/Alongside

The journey of reconciliation will always include change, including, very often, a change in perception. This is especially true when there is, at least as far as you can tell, no real hope for coming to an understanding with someone and restoring a relationship that has either fallen apart or could just never get going in the first place. In these situations, much of the reconciliation is an internal action, where you reconcile in yourself the discrepancy between the relationship you wish existed and the one that can.
